Great morning everyone!  Hope everyone had a fun, relaxing and creative weekend.  The weather in NY was gorgeous, FINALLY!  Old man winter doesn't seem to want to leave our neck of the woods.  The grass is starting to get green, the trees are finally budding leaves and the cherry blossom trees are looking gorgeous!  I had a busy weekend as always doing house work, yard work, quilting, and working on revamping my website which will be under my new name Quilter's Candy Shop. So far it is looking great!  I even got a few things together for the Mother's Day Mystery Gift Giveaway!  I am having sew much fun getting the gift together, I can't wait for the lucky winner to receive it!  Anyway so I worked a little more on my rooster block.  Added a little more decorative stitching.  Kind of looks like chicken feet. :)  Hopefully I will be finished with it soon so I can hang it in my kitchen.  I used leftover fabric from a valance I made in a class sometime ago so it will match perfectly! The backing is super cute and I will be binding it with black and white polka dot fabric.

I also finished my Star Block row for my "Around the Strip Quilt".  I have 3 rows completed so I am all caught up and will begin Row #4 this weekend or next.  Row #1 was the Pinwheel Blocks and Row#2 was the Bear Claw blocks
Close up of my blocks

Star Blocks (made using the Quilt in A Day - Flying Geese Ruler). Iif you don't have this ruler in your supply it is a must have.  Gives you perfect geese every time! Love love love this ruler!
Pin Wheel Block (made using Thangles).  First time using Thangles and I loved it!
Bear Claw Block (made using Triangle Paper).  Personally I wasn't too crazy about this method. I cheated and went back to using Thangles.

Hope everyone has a fabulous Monday!

Below is one of my recent projects I am working on with my mother in law.  The quilt is named "Around the Strip - 2013".  We are making one row a month and with each row we are using different techniques. I have to admit I am a little behind, 2 rows to be exact due to consecutive projects I am working on so I have to try and find time to work on them this weekend.  The quilt is a twin size up to the piano borders and full size up to the flying geese border.  Not sure if I will go all the way but we will see.  I just love this quilt though and I have to say my first 2 rows look awesome!  (will post pics soon).

I think many of us feel this way.  :-)  I'm obsessed with fabric, patterns and gadgets.  I call myself the gadget queen.  I want all rulers, pencils, templates, pin cushions, etc.  I just can't seem to get enough.  The best part is knowing I am not alone so what is your favorite gadget, quilting notion, or fabric makers?? I love fabrics by Robert Kaufman, Moda and Riley Blake.  I love love love the Creative grid rulers over the Omnigrid rulers which are a little difficult for me to read because of those yellow lines they use and I love my General's pencils!  Happy Sewing!

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog!

This is my very first time blogging so please bare with me as I am literally learning as I go. So if anyone has any helpful tips for a newbie blogger please feel free to post as I need all the help I can get.  I wanted to blog about my favorite hobby which is quilting and hopefully post weekly on different projects I work on during the week.  I was working on my rooster wall hanging this weekend and decided to quilt it using decorative stitching.  I like the way it is turning out!   What do you think??
